A recent research reveals that, while three-quarters of parents believe that reading to their kids every night is of prime importance, only one fifth of them find the time to do it, over-busy mothers being the first to see this task as a burden. Many parents consider bedtime storytelling as stressful, 71% of them considering it as one of the most stressful things they have to do.

In the best interest of their kids, and even if this may be sometimes an inconvenience, parents should remember that, as child psychologist Tanya Byron says: “Reading is crucial for child development and a lack of reading can impair language growth, emergent literacy and social skill development.”
