Why are the poorest children the more in need of early education? “Genetics” is not the main cause, as many people believe, social and economic reasons weigh here. Children in affluent households benefit generally from a much better educational environment than their disadvantaged peers: thanks to better educated parents they exchange more conversations, hear more bedtime stories, read more books, get more toys, play more games, etc. So they learn more, much earlier.
