According to the journal Nature, a group of international scientists may have recognized, in an extremely well preserved 520-million-years-old fossil, the ancestor of both spiders and scorpions.

The fossil of this 3-centimeter-long arthropod (an invertebrate animal) was dug up from the famous Chengjiang formation, near to Kunming, in China.
