– Some primary school principals and early childhood teachers have recently expressed their concerns that parents are becoming too dependent on technological devices – like smartphones and tablets – to pacify their kids or keep them entertained instead of having quality interaction with them. There is an obvious increase in the number of kindergarten students with serious speech delays, requiring the intervention of speech therapists.

– Douglas Rushkoff, author of the book “Program or Be Programmed“, implores parents to “not always be on”. Indeed, children do learn from TV and from using apps and other new technologies, but speech, language and social skills are better learned from real interactions with people.
