Should Children Learn Computer Science at School?

- Recently, President Obama, Shakira, Ashton Kutcher, Dwight Howard and other celebrities were enrolled by code.org, a nonprofit group, to promote a computer programming class. The purpose of this operation is to teach computer literacy to high school students in the United States and prepare them for highly in-demand jobs.

- It seems that elementary or middle school children, who learn certain programming language skills, score significantly better on standardized math tests after only a few months. Further research and experience are however necessary to measure the real benefits, in the long run, of learning computer science early.

- Today, around 90% of schools in the US don’t provide programming courses and most of the math teachers don’t have the skills to teach programming.
