– A new Kindergarten Readiness Assessment has been implemented in Maryland. This comprehensive test, based on one-on-one interaction, has been established to gauge the soon-to-be kindergartners’ abilities in language and literacy, math and science, as well as social studies and physical well-being.

– All across the United States, educators are increasingly using this kind of evaluation to measure young children’s skills in fundamental matters like letters, syllables, sounds and numbers recognition. The goal is to better determine the students’ needs at the time they are about to join the public school system. Maryland has appraised kindergarten readiness for over a decade but the system has now been aligned with the Common Core State Standards, the national set of educational and academic guidelines.
