– A father’s devotion may be different but is not less important than a mother’s devotion. In media and advertising (even on Father’s Day!), dads are often portrayed as poor bunglers unable to seriously take care of their children. In many sitcoms, dads are shown as incompetent, oblivious of the needs of their family, mismanaging their household.

– In real life fathers are generally considered, at best, as baby-sitters. It’s nevertheless important that girls grow up aware that they are neither mommy’s or daddy’s girls, but the daughters of a pair of parents, even if their parents’ roles may differ. They need to know that they have two loving and competent parents and that, even if mom is still often at the forefront of childcare, dad is also right there.
