What is the key difference between kids who excel in math and those who don’t? There is only one real difference: SELF-CONFIDENCE.

A fast growing amount of research and studies show that, most of the time, to be good or bad at math is a self-fulfilling prophecy. If, when you are a child, your mom, your dad, your teacher, or any adult tells you that you are not a math person, why would you not trust this authority figure, this role model?

The idea of “math people” is certainly a very pernicious myth that is harming many children, starting with the most underprivileged ones.
