Early experience counts. According to a new study by researchers at the University of Delaware and Temple University, building block and puzzle play are among the most efficient exercises to develop the spatial skills and math thinking of your children, and to prepare them for studies and careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). Preschoolers who are better at playing with blocks are also better at early math. In particular low-income toddlers who generally lag behind their more advantaged peers from the start.
